One big focus is on metal casting and forging. These are old methods used to make parts for missiles, planes, and military vehicles. But many of these factories are outdated. They rely on manual labor and can’t easily grow or change.To fix this, the Department teamed up with MetalTek and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining. Together, they started a project called the Advanced Manufacturing Cell (AMC). The goal is to improve how missile parts are made.The AMC project added new tools and machines to MetalTek’s factory. These include robots, 3D printing, and computer systems that track data in real time. Workers feel more confident and proud of their work.This kind of change is important for the whole defense industry. It shows that old factories can be updated with new technology.
